Get Clypello from the Mac App Store and launch it. Clypello runs as a menu bar app — there is no Dock icon. Look for the Clypello icon in your status bar at the top-right of the screen; click it to open the menu.

To paste directly into the frontmost app and to expand snippets, Clypello needs the Accessibility permission. When prompted, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and switch Clypello on. You only need to do this once.

Once running, Clypello records everything you copy. Open the menu bar icon to browse recent items and click any entry to copy it back to the clipboard.

• Text, links, files and images are all captured.
• History stays on your device and is never uploaded.
• Set how many items to keep — or clear the history — in Settings.

Open the main window and select Snippets in the sidebar. Click + to add a snippet, give it a title and content, then save. Your snippets appear in the menu bar and in Quick Search for one-click pasting.

Placeholders are dynamic tokens expanded the moment you paste. Use built-ins such as {{date}}, {{clipboard}} or {{uuid}} inside any snippet.

You can also create your own custom placeholders (e.g. {{signature}}) in the Placeholders screen. Custom placeholders may reference one another and are resolved recursively.

Press ⌥⌘V anywhere to open Quick Search. Start typing to fuzzy-match your snippets and history, use the arrow keys to move, and press ↩ to paste. Hold ⌥ while pasting to drop any formatting and paste plain text.

Give a frequently used snippet its own keyboard shortcut. Edit the snippet, assign a hotkey, and trigger it from any app without opening the panel.

Mark sensitive snippets (passwords, keys) as secure. Their content is stored encrypted in the macOS Keychain rather than in plain text. When you use one, Clypello asks for Touch ID confirmation first.

To stop Clypello from capturing copies in specific apps, open Excluded Apps in the sidebar and add them. Copies made in those apps — for example a password manager — are ignored entirely.

Sign in to the same Apple ID on each Mac and your snippets, placeholders and settings sync automatically through your private iCloud account. Clipboard history is intentionally kept local to each device. You can turn sync off in Settings at any time.

Enable Launch at login in Settings so Clypello starts automatically and your snippets are always available.
